Explorer Privacy (Customers)
Data collection methods, search location coordinates, booking history logging, and WhatsApp alert preferences for customer profiles.
1. What We Collect (Explorer Data)
When you sign up as a customer ('Explorer'), we collect personal identification information including your full name, email address, and active mobile number.
As you use our platform, we log your booking history (such as businesses visited, services scheduled, dates, and times) to display them in your Explorer panel and personalize future recommendations.
To help you discover local professionals, we may collect your coarse geographic location derived from your IP address or high-precision GPS coordinates (if you explicitly grant browser location permissions). We never track your location in the background.
Financial transactions are processed directly by PCI-DSS compliant third parties. getpointa only receives non-sensitive receipt references, transaction statuses, and card type details (e.g., Visa ending in 4242). We never store your full card number.
We collect your contact details, booking log, and location data to find nearby services and alert you about bookings. We do not store credit card info.
2. How We Use Explorer Information
We process your personal data primarily to execute and verify your appointments. Selecting a slot creates a calendar entry that coordinates details with the chosen business owner.
We use your phone number to dispatch automated, critical updates and reminders via WhatsApp and email. This includes immediate booking confirmations, reschedule notifications, and arrival reminders, which drastically reduces no-shows.
We analyze anonymized usage metrics to debug software issues, optimize page loading speed, and refine search relevancy on our Explore directory.
We will never sell, lease, or distribute your personal contact information to external marketing agencies. Your data is used strictly within the getpointa ecosystem.
We use your data to process bookings, send automated WhatsApp reminders, and secure payments. We never sell your personal information.
3. Who Sees Your Personal Information
When you confirm an appointment, your profile name, phone number, and any special booking notes are shared directly with the service provider (business) you selected.
Service providers are contractually bound under our Terms to only use your contact information to manage the scheduled appointment. They are prohibited from exporting your data or adding you to unauthorized marketing campaigns.
If a dispute is initiated (e.g. regarding a deposit refund claim), getpointa's administrators will access the communication logs, booking logs, and payment details to arbitrate the case fairly.
Only the business you book with can see your name, phone number, and booking notes. They need this to provide your service and contact you if needed.
4. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain your personal booking history as long as your Explorer account is active, enabling you to view past receipts, verify provider ratings, and quickly re-book favorite services.
You can request permanent account deletion at any time by navigating to your Account Settings → Privacy. Upon receipt of a deletion request, we will purge your personal name, email, and phone number from our live databases within 14 business days.
Legacy transactional records (payout history and deposit receipts) are kept in a highly secure, fully anonymized format to comply with Nigerian corporate accounting laws and financial regulations.
We keep your history to display booking metrics in your dashboard. If you delete your account, your data is erased or fully anonymized in our databases.
